Stella Norrby

May 2026, I am observing nature unfolding in the garden, Sylvia the cat is everywhere.
I have made her in solid clay as I am stuck by this new experience of her weight on me, it is called "Hold" as she has a way of holding me down when she is on my lap. She is also "what soothes me". I am beginning to see the duality and alternatives in the work.
Sometimes the pieces come about indirectly in the studio, as with " what ties me up in knots", it came from an act of destruction, (of a sculpture) , driven by a feeling of frustration and wrapped in a piece of creation, (the body). In a way the body contains all of this.

There is a balance happening between the made pieces and the photographs, in the editing and use of the photographs I am trying to draw out more clarity of the subject or object, its identity, emotion and feeling.
In my surroundings I see the repetition of working the land, the toil the virtue, the over working the effects on the body and land.
